The 3rd Year singing classes focus on further strengthening the vocal and physical fundament through exercises for the singing voice and for a singer’s body with the aim to incorporate and sustain healthy vocal habits. Aiming for professional proficiency, you will learn to have full individual and collective responsibility for your vocal and physical warmup before class.
With guidance, you are given free hands to work independently as a creative acting and singing performer, writing your own lyrics to an originally composed melody and interpret and stage the new composition. Apart from working on your individual song, the ensemble is assigned the task of ultimately combining all of the songs into one coherent performative framework.

In the 3rd Year you will learn how to take responsibility for your own vocal practice and development when entering the business as a professional performer.
Over the course of the year you will work on texts from your productions and with self-chosen monologues building up a portfolio of audition speeches.

The focus in the 3rd Year lies on contemporary techniques in guided improvisation.
Challenging your moving body and thereby discovering a freer physical expressivity, which is founded in an advanced technical application as well as your individual creativity. You will build an even stronger technical base and body awareness, expanding your experience and application of the mindbody connection through dance.

In the 3rd Year, you will take your technique to an advanced level, both practically and theoretically, and try to accumulate and assimilate the knowledge and competencies we you have gained over the past two years. The physical work on the floor with the Movement Psychology System continues, incorporating a variety of choreographed movements to explore and understand the System further.
In particular, you will work with connecting in practice all physical expressivity to the fundamental components of the Laban/Malmgren System: Motion Factors, Mental Factors and Inner Participations.

Through the devising and filming of a short film the you will experience the demands and requirements of the filming process, artistically and practically.
Artistically, you will explore the creation of a character for the screen and the restrictions and freedoms of working on camera. Practically, you will encounter the technical and physical demands of filming.
Throughout the process, reflection and feedback are encouraged so that the pedagogical goals are not overshadowed by the search for an end product.
The completed film becomes a calling card for the graduating students.

In collaboration with the convener/director, you will take on the challenge of a play from the classical canon by e.g. Euripides, Shakespeare, Molière, Ibsen, Chekhov or Brecht in a fully professional production. Like in previous productions, you will participate fully in the co-creational process of conceptualising, planning, materialising and managing the project, including co-creating set and costume design, and visual PR material (like trailers, posters, social media posts), organising and implementing PR strategies, and budget control.

Preparing you for part of your final assessment, the lecture-performance, you will learn to perfect your presentation and argumentation skills. This covers both logic, rational debate, and effective public presentation skills.
Ultimately these abilities are enjoined to the concept of theatrical expression, developing both an individual and group understanding of the most viable scenic formats for communicating thought, opinion and personal experience.

The culminating thesis is composed of two essential parts:
First, a reflective essay in the form of a thesis-length document, written over the course of two terms. You will be able to choose your own topic, holding immediate relevance to a central theme within the 3 Year course. A select member of the faculty will be available for consultation.
Second, a lecture-performance, in which your expert-level knowledge concerning the selected topic is brought to life and applied within a theatrical demonstration.

The training is completed with a final production, directed by a guest director.
You will work with a modern piece, resulting in a professional production, which is presented to an audience of industry members, invited guests and open public. An assessment panel, consisting of both internal and external tutors, and directors evaluate each your final performance and creative participation.
