Don’t you think there are cursed souls that simply fail to find peace?
Lady
We are lost souls. But we shall find peace.
The title of the play refers to Paul the Apostle’s conversion on the road to Damascus, and in this production, we send Strindberg’s protagonist, the Stranger, on a spiritual journey through a hallucinatory soulscape, where the air grows thick and brews up a fateful concoction of Catholicism, the Occult, Norse Mythology, and (Neo-) Freudianism.
An absurd and surreal pilgrimage from a street corner to the lunatic asylum and back.
